Britannia Romana or the Roman Antiquities of Britain, by John Horsley MA and F.R.S

Second Edition, 1974, first published 1733. Includes introduction by Eric Birley. The volume is divided into three Books: the first comprises a narrative history of Roman Britain, drawing methodically on the ancient literary sources, identifying the names of the forts on the Wall by a comparison of a list in the Notitia Dignitatum, and includes maps based on a survey by George Mark.
Book II is devoted to the Roman inscriptions nearly half of them never previously published, and illustrated by scale drawings.
Book III considers Roman Geography of Britain using sources such as Ptolemy's Geography, the Antonine Itinerary, the Notitia Dignitatum and the Ravenna Cosmography.
